The political trend in the movies industry
Is USA a cultural power?
Yes. Why?
when did you last watch an american Movie?
When did you last wear your fancy geans?
When did you last listen to american music?
Everyday:)
I've recently heard on the radio a comment of a movie critic saying that theyear 2005 is the begining of "Humanisation, political history facts that have a very bad influence on humanity or just do not take into consideration human rights" .It is true....
I've recently watched "Hotel Rwanda" ( the genocide that happened in Rwanda in 1994, when no intervention from ONU or states involved lead to the dying of more than 1 mil people), we all can remember "Farenheit 9/11", soon in the cinemas will be coming "Syriana".
Now...
Givimg the nominalizations for Oskar category: Best Foreign Film I've found out that 3 out of 5 are movies with political/hitorical/humanitarian background. ( http://europa.eu.int/comm/avpolicy/media/oscar.html)
These are "Paradise now" ( http://www.cineuropa.org/film.aspx?documentID=50627)
"Sophie Scholl" ( http://www.cineuropa.org/film.aspx?documentID=50529)
"Tsotsi" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0468565/)
Munich, State of fear, God sleeps in Rwanda are just other titles treating humanitarian and political issues.
From the genocide in Rwanda to "everyting is connected" in Syriana, the political interests that serve for human intervention are clear.
I was suprised in a good way that the Human Intervention is debated on an Aiesec forum.
If you are an AIESEC member you can access:
